Lilly Belle Meads

Good Time Rating: 5 out of 5 bottles

Accessibility Rating: 5 out of 5 clear doorways

5/17/25

Lancaster, NY

As an unrepentant attention whore, I love karaoke. Or any excuse to sing, really. I'm also a big fan of Disney, and of drinking mead. Suffice to say, when I heard there was a Disney Karaoke night at Lilly Belle Meads I was beyond down.

I rolled up in my wheelchair deeply nervous about what I was going to find. Lilly Belle is a cute little shop on a lane full of cute little shops. And cute little shops tend to be, well, little. And they make up for being little by cramming in shelving or tables that are way too close together.

Not so at Lilly Belle. The adorable honeycomb tables were a good distance apart. Mostly bar stool seating, but they did have one table at wheelchair height my friend was able to snag. The two bathrooms were both fully accessible. Everything was just perfect for wheelchair accessibility. The only thing I have to pick at is their website. If they had accessibility information on their site, I could have set my worries aside before I got there.

Karaoke was a hoot. Karaoke is never not a hoot as far as I'm concerned. And people really got into it. There were mouse ears to be seen all over the bar, and one person legit came in a full Darkwing Duck costume. Also there was a guy with puppets. I don't know what that had to do with Disney, it was just cool. The highlight of the evening was when my friend and I recruited strangers in the bar until we had the six people necessary to sing "We Don't Talk About Bruno".

There's a full bar (which has cute themed cocktails for the evening), a short beer list, and a small menu with appetizers. But I ignored all of that. I was there to drink mead, and by Odin's grace I did. They had 13 meads to indulge in, and between my own drinks and stealing sips from my friends' I tried six of them.

Black Magic - Vanilla forward, liquorice after, very good. But I say that as someone who enjoys black liquorice. Your mileage with this one may vary.

Honey cookie - Tastes like gingerbread and love.

Barrel Aged Bobby - STRONG. And funky in a good way. At 13% abv Lilly Belle has a three "Bobby" per day limit. Generally, it didn't feel like the sort of environment that would tolerate sloppy drinks, and I mark that as a positive.

Horchata Mead - Super light, summer sipper. I could just see myself with a chilled glass of this at the beach.

Vintage - Classic mead flavor. This was the one we brought home with us for our upcoming wedding anniversary.

Crystal Blue Meth - Very drinkable. A little more heavy than Horchata, but still very light. My friend liked it so much, she drank it all night and never tried anything else.

I will not be forgetting Puppet Guy anytime soon

I'd love to come back on a quieter night for a flight or something. Six meads and I missed so much! What does "Black Hole" taste like? What about "Old St. Knick"? I must know! And HOW did I manage to miss the Broadway karaoke night last month?

This post is not sponsored, but boy it'd be cool if it was because I think I'm in love.
